Biography

I am a PhD student at the EPSRC & MRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Next Generational Statistical Science based at the Department of Statistics and the Big Data Institute.

I am supervised by David Wedge, Jens Rittscher, Chris Holmes and Heba Sailem and work on the integration of Genomics and Image Analysis for the study of cancer subtypes to predict tumour behaviour and response to treatment using Statistical Machine Learning.

Prior to Oxford, I completed a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Glasgow, where I carried out a research project in Survival Analysis investigating End Stage Renal Disease in children across Scotland using Electronic Health Records data. For my dissertation, I explored Epidemic Modelling on Complex Networks through agent based simulations.

Projects

Study of non-invasive breast cancer using fluorescence in situ hybridization

We aim to identify genomic aberrations contributing to invasive cancer progression.

Subclonal analysis of colorectal samples

We identify mutations and copy number events on a set of colorectal samples to infer the chronological evolution of the tumours. We employ Dirichlet process clustering to assign mutations to clones and Plackett-Luce models to order genes chronologically.

Identifying histology-based subtypes on the basis of cell-to-cell interactions

Profiling of the immune microenvironment of colorectal samples with multiplexed immunofluorescence images and Graph Neural Networks.
